Sindhu replaces Deswal as city police commissioner

KK Sindhu succeeded SS Deswal as new police commissioner of Gurgaon. He assumed charge on Monday.

After taking over, he held a meeting with senior officials of 23 police stations. In the meeting, Sindhu directed the officials to give priority to effective traffic management and control crime. Sindhu has been shifted to Gurgaon from Ambala. Prior to his present posting, Sindhu was posted as inspector general of police, Ambala Range. Ambala is the third district of Haryana where police commissionerate system was introduced a month back.

Faridabad and Gurgaon are the two other districts. The outgoing police commissioner of Gurgaon SS Deswal has been transferred as additional director general of police (ADGP) CID, Chandigarh. Joint commissioner of police Alok Mittal has been given new charge of inspector general of police, Rohtak Range.

Under Deswal the Gurgaon police had handled sensitive situations like labour unrest in various companies, City Bank fraud, cases of kidnapping, murder of Hayatpur village sarpanch. All the cases were solved without using force.
