President Hu Jintao said on Sunday that China's "all-weather" friendship and "all-dimensional" cooperation with Pakistan have actively contributed to peace and stability in the region and the world.

"China and Pakistan have established all-weather friendship and all-dimensional cooperation on the basis of five principles of peaceful coexistence since they forged diplomatic ties 55 years ago," Hu said in message to Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf on the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two sides.

The friendship has brought "tangible benefits" to the two peoples and contributed in an active way to regional and international peace, stability and development, Hu said.

The Sino-Pakistan relationship has set an example to developing countries in fostering relations with neighbouring countries, he said.

China is willing to work with Pakistan to develop their traditional friendship, broaden the mutually beneficial cooperation and create a better future for the China-Pakistan strategic ties, Hu was quoted as saying by Xinhua news agency.

In his message, Musharraf said that as neighbours, the two peoples have had hundreds of years of close interactions and Pakistan is determined to work with the Chinese side and constantly push their ties to a new height.

This year some key Chinese-assisted infrastructure projects are likely to be put into operation in Pakistan this year.

The two sides also agreed to conclude the on-going negotiation on Free Trade Agreement (FTA) by the year end.
