THE UNCEREMONIOUS transfer of SP Sitapur Dava Sherpa, soon after the massacre of 15 persons, has left the district police in a tizzy.

It was due to the meticulous efforts of the police that one of the assailants Deepu Tiwari was arrested on Saturday. Deepu had played a vital role in hacking mother, wife and three children of his rival Saghan Mishra on Thursday night.

Saghan and his aides had later shot dead 10 supporters of Tiwari early on Friday morning avenging the killing of his family. The cops had arrested one supporter each from the rival groups yesterday.

However, normalcy is yet to be restored at the affected villages — Shankerpur and Israuli.

Separate police teams were still conducting raids to nab three of Deepu’s brothers and their rivals — Saghan, Babloo Bajpai, Sushil Dubey and others.
Meanwhile, the CM, expressing grief over the deaths of 15 people, announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh each for the kin of killed women and men and Rs 50,000 to the family of the kids who fell prey to the assailants. Meanwhile, the newly posted SP Sitapur Ashok Mutha Jain took charge of the office today and visited Shankerpur and Israuli villages. While talking to HT on phone, he said that an ASP and a CO-rank official were camping in the village along with PAC personnel.
