The six-day long 798th Urs of Sufi Saint Hajarat Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti concluded today in the holy town of Ajmer.

The Urs celebration of the 12th century saint had started on June 15.

The Urs commemorates the death anniversary of Chishti also known as Gharib Nawaz or "benefactor of the poor".

District Magistrate Rajesh Yaday told PTI that more than six lakh devotees, including those from Bangladesh and Pakistan, participated in the Urs.

Considering religious sanctity of the occasion, chadars were offered at the tomb on behalf of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Rajasthan Governor Shivraj Patil.

A chadar was also offered on behalf of Pakistan government by a delegation of 354 devotees from that country that included four government officers.
