Six drunk youth beat up police officer

In yet another incident of assault on police, six youth near SRS Mall attacked a policeman late Monday night.

The accused have been identified as Chand Ram, Praveen, Dheeraj, Afalatoon, Jeetu, and Subhash, all resident of Ullawas village, Gurgaon.

"After getting a call about an accident, head constable Trilok Chand reached the spot. He approached the youths who were in two Innova cars to enquire about the incident. The questioning led to a heated argument. The accused who were drunk started beating Trilok Chand and managed to escape," said a police official.

Trilok suffered injuries and was rushed to the hospital where he was discharged after fist aid. The accused were arrested and sent to 14 days judicial custody, said the official.

Police have also seized two Innova cars and one auto involved in the incident. "A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 332, 353 and 186 of the IPC," said a senior official said.

On April 14, two policemen and their associates were assaulted by a group of men outside a liquor vend in DLF City when they objected to their drinking.

In another incident, four men had shot a constable in the Manesar area on April 14.
