Six persons were injured in a bomb blast at a market in Howraghat in central Assam's hill district of Karbi Anglong on Thursday, official sources said.

The bomb planted by the Karbi Longri National Liberation Front (KLNLF) in a bicycle went off around 12.45 pm in the busy Howraghat vegetable market injuring six persons there.

Senior police and civil officials rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area to conduct rescue and relief operations.

The injured have been admitted to hospital, the sources added. The police had received intelligence input that the KLNLF planed to launch series of bomb blasts in the district at the behest of the ULFA with which it has close links, the sources said.

Meanwhile, two KLNLF militants were arrested by security forces. While one Jiten Hansie was nabbed from Manja area with a Chinese grenade, Kangpura Rongpi alias Rang Rongpi was arrested from Diphu.
