Six injured in clash over waqf property

No arrests have been made so far. The local administration was trying to resolve the dispute through talks between the two groups. Additional police force had been deployed in sensitive areas, including Sadar area.
Collector Shivshekhar Shukla and Superintendent of Police Shahid Ansar said the decision to register a case would be taken after obtaining information from both sides.
Police said two groups started pelting stones when an argument erupted after Friday prayer. Some policemen were injured while trying to prevent the conflict. However, nobody was hospitalised.
Sources said following the State Waqf Board’s order, Gulab Rain was appointed president of the managing committee and 15 members were appointed about one week back.
Former managing committee president Haji Mohammed and other members, who were not in the town then, issued a statement that the new committee was illegal and was created under political pressure.
