At least six minibus passengers were killed and three others were missing when their vehicle was hit by a landslide and fell into a ravine during heavy rains in the northern Philippines, a civil defence report said on Friday.

The report said several passengers got out of the vehicle to help clear a road blocked by a small landslide late on Thursday in Mountain Province, about 280 kms north of Manila.

A few minutes later, a bigger landslide slammed into the minibus and threw it off the road into a ravine about 30 meters (100 feet) deep, killing six passengers, including some of the volunteers, said Fred Bragas of the Office of Civil Defence.

The driver and two passengers were still missing and seven others were injured, the report said.
