Six Trinamool Congress workers were injured when the police made a lathicharge in Haldia as the party was holding its one-hour road blockade, according to party leader Sisir Adhikary.

He alleged that the police lathicharge was unprovoked since the one-hour statewide road blockade had been announced by party chief Mamata Banerjee.

The police denied the lathicharge.

Adhikary claimed that two of the injured admitted to hospital.

Meanwhile, the one-hour road blockade was obsered all over East Midnapore district demanding return of 400 acres of land in Singur to 'unwilling' farmers.
