A six-year-old boy was killed and seven others were injured when a school van in which they were travelling collided with a truck on Tuesday in Sarsaul area in Kanpur, police said.
The mishap occurred early morning when a van of Golden Public School was on its way to the institution and collided with a truck after it took the wrong side, Superintendent of police (rural) Lal Bahadur said.
Uttam, a class I student, died on the spot and seven others, including the driver, were badly injured in the accident, he said.
The injured have been admitted to a hospital where their condition is stated to be critical.
Meanwhile, police have impounded the truck and launched a hunt for its driver, who managed to escape from the spot.
