A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped on Friday night at a rented home in Ghaziabad's Ghukna area.
The girl had reportedly gone to a shop near her home when she was accosted by a man, who is yet to be identified. "A man approached her and requested her to help out with his daughter's studies. She went with him to a nearby home, where he raped her," the victim's father said.
The girl, a Class 2 student of a public school, later returned home and told a family member about the incident. "She was bleeding profusely. We rushed her to a local hospital. Doctors say she will remain there for a few days," the father added.
A medical examination confirmed rape. Six persons were picked up by police but none was identified by the victim. The accused is thought to be around 22 years old.
"The house where the incident took place belonged to a contractor, where several of his workers lived. But none of them was involved. The accused is absconding. Our teams are conducting raids to nab him," senior superintendent of police Prashant Kumar said.
