Small traders no vote bank

The government obviously is not doing enough primarily because there is no vote bank associated with these small traders. There is always a compensation for relocation (given to slums dwellers as well as to industrial units) but here nobody is talking about that option and the government is hiding behind SC and at times even threatening to change the constitution and allow for chaos in the city. Is this how we want to take India ahead and compete with the world?

The government obviously is not doing enough primarily because there is no vote bank associated with these small traders.

There is always a compensation for relocation (given to slums dwellers as well as to industrial units) but here nobody is talking about that option and the government is hiding behind SC and at times even threatening to change the constitution and allow for chaos in the city. Is this how we want to take India ahead and compete with the world?

The first step should be to identify the location where these shops will be shifted. This should have been done before starting sealing drive. But our government was confident that they will be able to fool the court and buy more time till someone else (read BJP) comes in power and the entire blame will be thrown on that person's head.

The compensation should definitely be announced for those impacted. However, looking at the size of community being affected, expecting free compensation would be unrealistic. The government can look at providing loans to those affected at milder terms so that they are able to carry on with their lives and repay the loan as they earn in next few years. Rate of Interests could be subsidised and that bill should be borne by the current subsidies. I mean current subsidies may be reduced to pay for this subsidy.

BTW, I am not impacted.
