What is Shawarma?

Shawarma is a Middle-Eastern-style wrap made with roasted meat shaved off the skewer. Lamb, goat, chicken and turkey are the popular options. The meat is accompanied with onions, tomato and capsicum on the skewer, where it is rotated for several hours. The meat is then filled in a pita bread or roti, and served with tahini, mayonnaise or mint sauce

Shawarma, a meat delicacy that saw its origin in the Middle East, is fast becoming Delhi’s favourite quick-snack. Shawarma is nothing but strips of meat or marinated chicken strung on a skewer, and then wrapped up in either a pita bread or the traditional roomali roti. We take you on a tour to the various eateries in the Capital that serves this meaty delight.
