Snowfall, rain likely in parts of Kashmir Valley on Wednesday

There was slight respite from the bone-chilling cold conditions in the Valley as the minimum temperatures increased several notches on Tuesday. The meteorological department (MeT) has however predicted light to heavy snowfall or rains in some parts of the state in the next 24 hours.

There was slight respite from the bone-chilling cold conditions in the Valley as the minimum temperatures increased several notches on Tuesday.


The meteorological department (MeT) has however predicted light to heavy snowfall or rains in some parts of the state in the next 24 hours.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a low of -1.7° Celsius (C) as against Monday night's -3.7° C, a MeT department official said.

The famous tourist resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded -6.3° C as against previous nights -10.8° C, the official said.

Gulmarg recorded a low of -4.8° C as against previous night's -6.0° C, added the official.
Qazigund, the gateway to Kashmir, recorded a low of -6.4° C against the previous night's -8.1° C, the official said.

Leh recorded -10.4° C as against the previous night's -13.7° C, while Kargil recorded a low of -18.6° C as against the previous night's -19.0° C.

The meteorological department has predicted that there could be light to moderate snowfall or rains in some parts of the Valley during the next 24 hours.
