VANVASI KALYAN Parishad will organise a two-day national ‘Jal Sansad’ at Abhay Prashal from 10 am to 6 pm on November 28 and 29.
State Planning Board vice chairman Dr Som Pal told reporters here today that the programme would have presentations by people who have actually worked for water conservation in rural and tribal areas. Dr Pal said that the format of discussion in Jal Sansad would be designed to look like the parliament. He said that the main thrust would be highlighting the projects that benefited the marginalised people like tribals.
Swami Avdheshanand and Dr Mohanrao Bhagwat will be the special guests at the programme. Parishad president Harsh Chauhan informed that the discussion would be divided into different sessions focusing on source of inspiration, water conservation techniques adopted and impact of those initiatives.
Well-known personalities like Anna Hazare (Maharashtra), Rajendra Singh (Rajasthan), Anil Rana (Uttar Pradesh), Shevang Narsel (Leh), Mansukh Bhai Suvania (Gujarat), Komal Lochan Jani (Orissa) and Chaitram Pawar (Maharashtra) will share their experience with the audience—how they got inspired to work in the field of water conservation, the techniques employed by
them and the socio-economic changes their efforts brought about.
Nearly 20 people from Khandwa, Shahdol and Jhabua districts of Madhya Pradesh will also tell audience about their experiences and the steps they took for water conservation.
Representatives from government departments like Forest, Rural Development, Agriculture and Water Resource will also participate in the programme. Representatives for various educational institutes have also been invited to the programme.
