ADDITIONAL DIRECTOR General (CBCID) Shailendra Sagar said here on Friday that the entire society should come up and fight against human trafficking.
Addressing the valedictory session of a three-day workshop on human trafficking and its relativity with the spread of HIV organised by UNDP at hotel Gomti, Sagar said that besides policemen, parents should keep a watch on their surroundings.
“With a change in the style of trafficking that has spread to almost every city, the entire society has to contribute to it,” he said.Sutapa Sanyal, IG (CBCID), who also spoke on the occasion, said, “Trafficking was a multifaceted problem, and the law alone cannot tackle it. It’s necessary to raise awareness to deal with the issue.”“A chapter on human trafficking is going to be included in the course at the Police Training School so that cops can have a better understanding of the problem and its causes,” Sanyal said. The speakers were of the view that though people were aware about HIV, they were not aware of human trafficking and its relativity with the spread of HIV.
They said that even the voluntary organisations and self-help groups could play a vital role to raise awareness about trafficking.
