A TWO-DAY training programme on ‘management of municipal solid waste’ commenced at the Disaster Management Institute on Monday for the representatives of NGO, Jan Kalyan Samiti.
The training was inaugurated in the presence of former vice-chancellor of Jeewaji University, Gwalior, Prof R R Das, MP Pollution Control Board chairman Prof PS Dubey, Jan Kalyan Samiti president Dinesh Pandey and DMI director Dr Rakesh Dubey.
Prof Dubey stressed the need of participation of NGOs in such programmes and asked the participants to make maximum use of the inputs received from the training. Prof Das, in his keynote address, advised the participants to create public awareness and ensure participation in handling disaster situations. Dinesh Pandey thanked DMI for organising the training programme.
Dr Rakesh Pandey welcomed the participants and guests and discussed the importance of municipal solid waste management for protecting environment. The programme is coordinated by Sanjoy Das, senior programme officer of DMI.
