The city braces up for the culinary celebration of the year with the International Chef’s Day being celebrated tonight at Hotel Ashok.

As the city braces up for the culinary celebration of the year with the International Chef’s Day being celebrated tonight at Hotel Ashok, the men and women of the hour got together to kick start the festivities well in advance. Most of the nominees for the awards being organised by the PHD Chamber in collaboration with Indian Culinary Forum, Indian Federation of Culinary Association and HT City, got together at Tonino, the Italian restaurant, in the city.

All the gathered Chefs were in high spirits as they held their own celebration with decadent wines and sumptuous nibbles. “The objective of organising this event is to create awareness amongst people. This is the sixth year of Chef’s Award and Gourmet Specialty week and it’s a great platform to recognise the culinary excellence of these professionals,” said Chef Vivek Sagar at the event.

“We were quite keen on marking the international chef’s day with an event like this. Even though the actual day is celebrated on October 20, but with the Common Wealth Games, we decided to hold the ceremony on November 14. And because it happens to be Children’s Day just makes it all the more special for us,” says Chef Suman Sharma. The glittering ceremony tonight is expected to draw in quite the crowd with all the proceeds from the dinner going to charity.
