Rajiv Rathod, son of Andheri-based numerologist Hasmukh Rathod (55) who has been arrested on charges of raping two girls from Mira Road, has become incommunicado following the arrest of his father.

Neighbours and police alike are clueless about 25-year-old Rajiv’s whereabouts. The ground floor flat of Seeta Kutir apartments at Juhu Gali, Andheri (West), where Rajiv stayed with his widowed father was locked when this reporter visited the building on Sunday. “The flat has been locked ever since ‘uncle’ (Hasmukh) was arrested by the police on Wednesday.

Though Rajiv ‘sir’ briefly visited the house after the arrest, he went out in a hurry,” said the building watchman.

Rajiv, who worked at a BPO, was last spotted by the same watchman early on Sunday morning. He went into the house for few minutes and left immediately. He asked the watchman not to give anyone information about him.

Rajiv had been summoned for questioning by the Mira Road police following his father’s arrest on Wednesday.

Rajiv had denied any knowledge about his father’s sexual misdemeanors till he was arrested. “When we asked Rajiv to record his statement, he refused to comply saying that he had nothing to do with the case and that he had decided to cut off all relations with his father,” said Maithli Jha, sub-divisional police officer from Mira Road division.

“We are trying to locate him and record his statement as he shared the flat with his father where the crime was committed,” said Jha.
