“If I may share a secret, there is another reason for me to be happy to be with you this afternoon and that is that this visit is giving me an opportunity to bunk my school — politics — for a few hours,” was Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s candid confession while inaugurating Infosys’ second Global Education Centre here.
“…after touring this campus and admiring these beautiful facilities, this building, the environment and the trees and flowers, I honestly want to say I wish I could bunk a few days here with you all," she added.
Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, Infosys mentor N.R. Narayana Murthy, his wife Sudha and the company’s top brass were present at the event.
Praising Gandhi, Murthy said, she (Gandhi) is an international politician “who is loved as much by the rural masses of India as the elite.”
“There are very few people in the country — for that matter anywhere in the world — who have transcended continents, cultures and languages and felt completely at home in each of them like Sonia has”, he said.
