National General secretary of the Samajwadi Party, Amar Singh, said today the resignation of Sonia Gandhi from all trusts was a victory for his party. “We have received the principal and now have to realise the interest,” he said.

Amar Singh was addressing an election meeting at Harchandpur before flagging off a big cycle rally of MP Akhilesh Singh Yadav in favour of Samajwadi Party candidate, Raj Kumar Chaudhary. He described Rae Bareli as the laboratory for Samajwadis. He said Rae Bareli was helpful in forming national opinion.

He further said Jaya Bachchan’s membership from Rajya Sabha had been terminated on the issue of ‘office of profit. Even he himself had been issued a notice.

However, he added, he had not resigned so far from the UP Development Council.

Addressing the meeting, PWD Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav said the UP government within its two and half years rule had evolved many schemes for the State. How many schemes had been made for UP and Rae Bareli in two years' rule of UPA government at the Centre, he asked.

Akhilesh Yadav said the resignation of Sonia Gandhi from Lok Sabha was not a sacrifice. It was rather her surrender before the Constitution.

He said the result of Rae Bareli election would have far-reaching impact on the politics of the State and the nation.

Akhilesh Yadav was accompanied with 500 cyclists wearing red cap and holding party flags.

The rally will cover through Achaleshwar, Sirsa, Satao,Gurubuxganj, Bheetargaon and terminate into a big meeting at Kheero.
