Congress president Sonia Gandhi will address a 'Sadbhawana Rally' at Sewagram in Wardha district on Friday to mark the culmination of the flag march undertaken by party workers on Gandhi Jayanti.
Her visit to Sewagram was officially confirmed by authorities in Nagpur on Thursday.
Sonia will lead the Congress leaders prayer near Bapu Kuti in Sewagram. Her Special Protection Group (SPG) is already camping in Wardha.
Union Energy Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Union Heavy Industries Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, besides many ministers from the Maharashtra Cabinet are attending today's rally.
Chief Minister Ashokrao Chavan is also scheduled to arrive but his tour programme is yet to be confirmed.
The flag march, undertaken as part of the 'Gram Se Sewagram' march, was conceptualised to mobilise party cadres at the grass roots to commemorate the 125th anniversary celebrations of Congress.
