Apple is soon losing its novelty factor. After Blackberry's thumping challenge to iPad with PlayBook, buzz is that Amazon is not only launching its own app store but is rumoured to be releasing a tablet alongside it.
The app store will focus on Android platform,
reported. For each app sale, Amazon will pay the developer either 70 per cent of the purchase price or 20 per cent of the 'List Price', depending on whichever one is greater.
You can only access the store in US for now, the developer fee for which is $99.
Rumour is that Amazon is also preparing to launch a tablet to coincide with the app store. The tablet might run on the Android format.
It would be interesting to see how Apple reacts to a sudden surge of challenging apps in a market it dominated once.
