Two days after two sisters in Sopore were allegedly gunned down by militants, a group of about 20-30 people gathered in a Park at Lal Chowk to protest the killing. The women, asked people — especially separatists — to condemn the killings as they had Shopian’s alleged rape-and-murder case.

Another group, World Kashmir Students Organisation — mostly of students and professionals —has called for a march to Sopore on Sunday to protest the killings.

Hardline faction chief Syed Ali shah Geelani, meanwhile, has called for a shutdown in Sopore town and protest after
Friday prayers in the entire Valley on Friday.

In a press statement on Thursday he called the killings of the two “innocent girls barbaric”.
