THE BENGALI Association Bhopal, as part of its 50-year celebration, has made the beginning by staging shows of magician PC Sorcar, Young at Campion School Auditorium from July 22 to August 5.
Governor Dr Balram Jakhar will inaugurate the first show at 5 pm on July 21. The Association has decided that on the occasion of its golden jubilee, it would undertake few social work initiatives.
“To begin with, the Association has planned to start a free super-specialty OPD at TT Nagar Kali Badi premises from August 15,” said Bengali Association’s member S Chatterjee today. He said the plan is also to donate two Braille computers to National Blind Association, Bhopal.
Magician PC Sorcar, Young – son of legendary magician Padmashree PC Sorcar and brother of PC Sorcar, Jr performed a demonstration show before the media. “Magic is pure entertainment and our family has been performing it with the same objective for eight generations,” he emphasised.
A dancer-turned-commercial pilot-turned-magician, Sorcar earlier had a ballet troupe and now wishes to make Bhopal’s pride – the Upper Lake ‘vanish’. “If we get permission from the state administration, we might go for the trick,” he said.
When asked on why lesser people take to magic profession, he said apart from intensive practice, perseverance, it needs IQ of an individual. When asked whether magic could eradicate poverty he said, “Only good and honest leadership can help in eradicating nation’s poverty.”
Sorcar, along with his, son performed few tricks, backed by music and dance, and received a wide applaud today.
