The family of Shashi Nath Jha, slain private secretary of JMM leader Shibu Soren, has moved Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court order acquitting the former Union minister in the murder case.

The move came after the CBI failed to file an appeal against the high court’s August 22 order. “Yes, I have challenged Soren’s acquittal in the Supreme Court,” Vijay Nath Jha, the brother of the deceased, told HT.

In his appeal, Vijay Nath has contended that the hich Court erred in ignoring the “skull super-imposition report” proving that the body was that of the deceased. The trial court, he said, had cited as many as 23 judgments on this point to support its order convicting Soren.

The sessions court had sentenced Soren to life imprisonment but the high court had set that order aside.
