In Thursday’s game between the Chennai Super Kings and the Pune Warriors India, Sourav Ganguly showed glimpses of his elegant best. The three boundaries in an over of Doug Bollinger were the highlight of his 24-run knock. But, just when his return to form was looking imminent, Ganguly did not reach to the pitch of a Shadab Jakati delivery and provided Nuwan Kulasekara with an easy catch at long on.

On the eve of the match as well, Ganguly was the first PWI player to hit the nets in an optional practice session. Though he was struggling with his timing even against the net bowlers, his determination to succeed was top notch.

The PWI bowling coach, Allan Donald, who had credited Ganguly’s leadership for the team’s early success, believes that it is the player’s motivation that will help him answer his critics. “He is really motivated to contribute. He showed the motivation again today. I think he is just a knock away from showing what a world-class player he is,” Donald said.
