SP men clash over Mayawati?s effigy

OFFICE BEARERS of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Kanpur Dehat, clashed with each other at a busy Parade crossing during the demonstration against former chief minister and Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati here today.

District President of Kanpur Gramin SP Munim Shukla, district president of Kanpur Gramin Youth Brigade of the party Pradeep Tewari and Lohia Vahini president Sunil Shukla along with their supporters gathered at Parade crossing to burn the effigy of Mayawati at around 1 pm.

While burning the effigy, dispute erupted between Pradeep Tewari and Munim Shukla and both tried to snatch away the effigy from each other. In the scuffle, the burning effigy fell on the hands of Pradeep Tewari and he started abusing Munim Shukla. Infuriated over the same, Munim Shukla slapped Pradeep Tewari in full public view triggering fight between the two SP leaders.

It was only after the intervention of District president of the Lohia Vahini Kanpur Gramin Sunil Shukla and other party workers that the altercation between the two office-bearers of the party could be stopped.

Meanwhile, senior leader of the party Surendra Mohan Agarwal felicitated all the newly elected corporators of SP at the party office at a simple function here today.

District President of the party Nasiruddin today announced office bearers of the district committee. In all 107 members were inducted into the new district committee of the party.
