Samajwadi Party (SP)'s poll manifesto has promised a series of steps to check corruption, inflation and extravagance.

According to the manifesto, price rise has made people's life miserable and the governments have failed to check it and thus it was time to ‘Daam baandho neeti (fix prices policy). The manifesto says that any item should not be sold for more than 1.5 times of its production cost and that the government would ensure this.

The SP government also promises to ban future trading as the party feels that Future trading is a factor that contributes to price rise.

The manifesto says that the party's government would impose heavy taxes on money squandering and extravagance. "Because of extravagance of rich people with cash stuffed pockets, price rise and common people and poor suffer. We will check such expenses," said party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.

According to the manifesto, the government would impose heavy taxes on luxury cars, palatial houses and extravagant wedding parties. The government would verify properties and income of people who become rich overnight and would file cases of money laundering against them, if required.

"Special monitoring units will also be constituted to keep an eye on corporate houses, ministers and officers to check corruption and corrupt practices," Mulayam added.

In the matters of corruption, the SP manifesto promises to bring back the black money that has ruined the country's economy and to implement effective anticorruption laws.
