In a relief to passengers who are stranded because of cancellation of Spicejet flights, the Central Railway (CR) has announced a special train to Chennai from Mumbai, and another from Pune to Goa.
Both will be premium-special trains, for which fares will increase depending on the demand. In its statement, the CR said the trains will help clear the extra rush of passengers, who are stuck owing to the withdrawal of the flights by Spicejet.
The train for Chennai will depart from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 5.25pm on December 20 and will reach Chennai at 5.05pm the next day. It will depart for return journey from Chennai at 8pm on the same day and reach LTT on December 22 at 10.35pm. The 13-car train, including three air-conditioned coaches, will halt at Panvel, Pune, Solapur, Reniguntaa and Arakkonam stations.
The special train for Madgaon will depart from Pune station on December 21 at 12.25am and will reach Madgaon at 1.25pm the same day. From there, it will depart to Pune at 4.30pm and reach Pune at 5.50am the next day.
The train will have 14 coaches, including three air-conditioned coaches, and will halt at Lonavala, Panvel, Ratnagiri, Thivim and Karmali stations.
