Bihar government has decided to set up two special courts inside Siwan Jail to hold speedy trial in pending cases against RJD MP Mohammed Shahabuddin.
Law department has issued a notification for setting up two courts -- one of District and Sessions Judge and another of Judicial Magistrate -- inside Siwan Jail for speedy trial of RJD MP in over three dozen cases, official sources said on Friday.
The trial of Shahabuddin, who is at present lodged in the Siwan jail, would begin in the special courts soon, Home secretary Afzal Amanullah said.
Separate rooms inside the Siwan jail have been converted into court rooms for the purpose, Amanullah added.
The decision to try Shahabuddin inside the jail was taken in view of security risks involved in taking the MP to the district courts and also because of his medical problems, Amanullah said adding that he could not be produced before different courts ever since transferred to the Siwan Divisional jail from Bhagalpur.
The RJD has charged the state government of "ignoring" Shahabuddin's health problem with minority cell chief Mohammad Nematullah even approaching NHRC on the issue.
They also demanded that the jailed MP be provided specialised treatment outside Siwan.
