A speedily-driven SUV crushed three people from Ghattabillod village in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh to death.
The accident took place on Indore-Dhar road between Pankheri-Sejwaya village in the wee hours on Monday when five people were travelling to Julwaniya village.
The deceased were identified as Sohan and Nandram, both of whom belonged to the same family, while the identity of one person is yet to be ascertained.
Two persons including a six-year-old girl Madhu also got injured in the accident and they were admitted at Pithampur hospital.
Ghattabillod police station in-charge Rajan Singh Baghel said two persons died on the spot after being crushed by the vehicle, while one person, who was severely injured, died on way to the hospital.
Baghel said that after the accident, the culprit tried to flee from the spot in his vehicle but people chased the vehicle. Fearing that he would be caught, the driver then fled by abandoning his car on the road.
A case under Section 304 of Indian Penal Code has been registered against the unidentified driver at Ghattbillod police station.
