Speeding truck kills four in Etah

Four persons were killed and four others severely injured when a speeding truck overturned on them at Etah-Abgay road, near Bagwala village, in Etah, police said.

Four persons were killed and four others severely injured when a speeding truck overturned on them at Etah-Abgay road, near Bagwala village, in Etah, police said.

The accident occurred yesterday when four people were sitting near the road and a truck apparently lost control and overturned on them, police said.

The injured are said to be in a critical condition and have been referred to Agra Medical College.

The dead, including two women, have been identified as Awameesh, Jaiveer, Gulabsree and Shantidevi.

In a separate incident a bus fell in a pit near Abgay, injuring 10 passengers while the driver and conductor escaped unhurt.

In another incident a police constable, Sushil Kumar, who was on his motorbike, was killed after he was hit by a bus near Kotwali.

Meanwhile, an eight-year-old boy was crushed to death yesterday by a truck near Mamo village. The truck driver has been taken into police custody.
