If white water rafting is on your agenda this summer but you have no company, here’s a group that would love to take you along. Ganga Panga, an online community on Facebook, is where all the fun begins. A group of over 1,388 members is perfect for all those who are looking for some serious sporty fun, whether you go rafting at Rishikesh or on a safari to Corbett.
“Ganga Panga’s all about bonding and finding people who have similar tastes,” says Karan Bhalla, one of the founder members of this online community. Bhalla says they take people along for “adventure sports and lots of fun”. One of their most popular trips was the Holi special rafting trip not too long back.
These trips, held ever 45 days, are becoming so popular, that the bookings are now running months in advance. What began with just about 10 people, has now become a full-fledged business proposition with Bhalla even quitting his travel and tourism job. “People from all over the country and even Sri Lanka and UAE began contacting us and that’s how our members have increased from 10 to well, over a 1,000, “ he says.
An average trip costs around Rs 6900 — a two nights and three days package that’s inclusive of travel, food and Ganga Pang merchandise. And now that rafting season may be over soon, trips to Corbett are next on the list, as are getaways to the hills.
So why is this community gaining momentum? That’s because they really think out of the box. Innovative games, fun treks and lots of laughter are a part of their agenda. One of their future projects include trekking and then a cook-out where everyone will pitch in to cook.
While the membership is by invitation only, you can contact the group at gangapanga@ gmail.com or simply join the community on Facebook.
