Hugh Grant’s admission just last month that he had finally ‘settled down’, seems to have come just a bit too fast, for the actor has split from lady love Jemima Khan.
Khan reportedly told the British star at a face-to-face meeting in London that their relationship had run its course.
"It’s over," the Daily Mail quoted Khan, as telling Grant.
A friend of Jemima, the ex-wife of former Pakistani cricketer Imran Khan, revealed that the news had not come as a surprise to Grant.
"They both finally realised it was over. When Jemima told Hugh, it didn’t surprise him - it wasn't a bolt from the blue - the relationship was effectively dead," the pal said.
"She feels the relationship has run its course. She felt the relationship was probably never really sufficiently stable to move towards marriage.
"Jemima has been hugely, hugely fond of Hugh and there's absolutely nobody else involved on either side. There's great sadness on her part but no acrimony, it is a dead relationship as far as she is concerned."
And, further confirmation of the split came from the couple’s spokesman Ian Monk, who said that the break-up was amicable.
"The split is amicable but it is not a matter on which either Jemima or Hugh will be making any statement," Monk said.
The news of the split comes on the heels of indications by the Music and Lyrics star that he had finally found the woman he wanted to make a commitment to.
"It's true that I have taken a long time to settle down. My life is very nice now," Grant had earlier said during an interview.
Hugh and Jemima met in 2004, and were recently spotted house-hunting together.
