Srivatsan shines for MRF

Opener Parveen Srivatsan played a superb knock of 92 to guide MRF to a 48-run victory over Air India in the 15th All India J.P. Atray Tournament at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA), Stadium, on Wednesday. With this win MRF pocketed five points including bonus.
Put into bat, MRF had a shaky start to their innings losing opener Ishank Jaggi with just 16 runs on board. First down Parag Madikar also could not do much with the bat as he was clean bowled on individual score of 13 runs.
With MRF reeling at 44 for two, Gunaneswara Rao stitched a partnership of 57 runs with Parveen.
The duo managed to raise the team total to 100 runs but A. Chavan brilliantly ran Rao out for individual score of 31. Meanwhile, Parveen held up one end despite loosing partners. Skipper Venugopal Rao (9) also couldn't do much with the bat and MRF further sank into the abyss when Sunil Viswanathan also walked back to the pavilion on individual score of two.
MRF started the rebuilding process again with U. Sushil combining with Parveen to add a 33-run partnership in 42 balls. The duo managed to raise the team total to 164 before Parveen was brilliantly caught by Sachin Rana. He fell nine short of a well-deserved 100. His innings included six fours and one six.
In the end, MRF managed to set the target of 210 runs. Chasing the target, Air India were immediately pegged down by some superb line and length bowling by medium pacer Rahul Shukla.
Naman Ohja (1) and Sushant Marathe (0) were consumed by right arm medium pacer Rahul Shukla with the team's total reading a just five.
Air India could never recover from early jolts and the whole team was bundled out for just 162 runs in 42 overs. Venu Gopal Rao 3 for 17 Mohd. Nyas 3 for 38 and Rahul Shukla 2 for 17 were the main wicket takers for MRF.
