International movie stars including Scarlett Johansson, Penelope Cruz and Natalie Portman will attend the Berlin Film Festival next month, the festival's director said.
"We think that Daniel Day-Lewis and Penelope Cruz will come, along with Ben Kingsley, who will be in two movies," Dieter Kosslick told the Associated Press in an interview.
"Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan has announced he will come, and we're happy that Scarlett Johansson will attend the Berlin Film Festival for the first time."
Natalie Portman, Tilda Swindon and Eric Bana also planned to attend, Kosslick said.
"This year's film festival will rock," Kosslick said, referring to Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese's documentary on the Rolling Stones,
Shine A Light
, which will have its world premiere as the opening movie at the annual festival. Scorsese and the band will attend the screening on Feb. 7.
Madonna, Patti Smith and several hip-hop stars from Asia and Africa have also announced they were coming, Kosslick said.
Twenty-six movies will compete for this year's Golden Bear award, 18 of them will have their world premiere at the festival. The Berlin event, the first of the year's major European film festivals, ends Feb. 17.
