SENIOR SUPERINTENDENT of Police GK Goswami, on Friday, convened a meeting of block-pramukhs, seeking their assistance in curbing crime on city outskirts.
Interestingly, though the meeting was called by the SSP himself, he could spare merely 10 minutes for it. Before the pramukhs could get the agenda of the gathering, Goswami left his office for some other important event.
Those who responded to the SSP’s call were pramukhs from Sarojininagar, Mohanlalganj, Malihabad, Chinhat, Gosainganj and Kakori blocks.
The pramukhs revealed that they were informed by the local police stations about the meeting yesterday. They were told that the SSP has sought their assistance in providing details about crime-prone areas in their respective blocks. Besides, the pramukhs were asked to intimate the SSP directly if policemen from local police stations were performing their duty properly or not.
The pramukhs were also asked to intimate the SSP if any policeman was engaged in illegal activity or harassing somebody. The SSP has also sent a message to pramukhs to contact him if any of the pradhans or the BDC members were facing any problem related to the force.
