Entrance exam: No entrance exam. Admission through merit list. However, there is an entrance exam for the Mass Communications course.

Weightage: A separate merit list is prepared for ISC, CBSE and state board students. An equal number of students are admitted from each board.

Entrance exam: The college sets cut-off marks, on the basis of which candidates can apply online. There is an entrance exam for every subject and aspirants have to come to Kolkata to take the exam. All the details related to the entrance exam are available on the college website.

Weightage: No separate weightage to other board students.

Famous alumni: Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen, President Rajendra Prasad, film director Satyajit Ray.

Campus: The 16-acre campus of the 190-years-old college would instantly take one back in time.

Interesting add-ons: The college library boasts of a huge collection that includes some of the rarest books. The college arranges workshops during holidays. Its faculty includes some well-known teachers. The college offers 100 per cent placement in most of its courses.

Outstation quota: Not applicable.

Hostel facilities: Separate facilities for outstation boys and girls.

Entrance exam: Entrance exam is conducted for English and Economics. The questions cover the syllabus of Class XII. To get into engineering, students have to clear the West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam (WBJEE). For other subjects, the selection is made through merit list.

Weightage: The University compiles two merit lists — the first one is for students who pass the state board Class XII, and the second one is for the CBSE and ISC students.

Famous alumni: Former ONGC Chairman Subir Raha, Parliamentarian Mohammad Salim, West Bengal IT minister Debesh Das.

Campus: The campus is extremely cosmopolitan in nature and attracts students from many European and African countries. A large number of students from the North-East also come here.

Interesting add-ons: The University is set on a 67-acre lush green campus. It boasts off the best placement records.
