Staff to wear ?thinking caps?

india Updated: Sep 25, 2006 15:20 IST

While staff may find donning them as ‘bloody idiotic,’ a local council in Britain is all set to make its managers wear baseball ‘thinking caps’ to inspire them to come up with innovative ideas during brainstorming sessions.

Emblazoned with ‘Thinking Cap,’ the headgear has been handed out to senior workers as part of a £2,000 move to help them come up with cash-saving ideas. Councillors blasted the handouts, which include 3,000 puzzles, from Isle of Wight council chief executive Joe Duckworth as a waste of cash.

“At a time of cutbacks, spending nearly £2,000 on things thrown quickly in the bin is a bit rash. One councillor even scorned the council’s initiative by turning up to a meeting wearing a Fez with ‘Independent Thinking’ inscribed on it. But, despite all mockeries, the council feels it to be a great idea.
