Stage set for jubilee celebrations

BHARAT BHAVAN?S week-long silver jubilee function will get under way on Tuesday with the inauguration of an art fair. Minister of State for Culture Laxmikant Sharma will inaugurate the fair. An exhibition of awarded art pieces in the print biennial held at Bharat Bhavan will also begin the same evening.

BHARAT BHAVAN’S week-long silver jubilee function will get under way on Tuesday with the inauguration of an art fair. Minister of State for Culture Laxmikant Sharma will inaugurate the fair. An exhibition of awarded art pieces in the print biennial held at Bharat Bhavan will also begin the same evening.

In the inaugural session of silver jubilee function, Saroja Vaidyanathan will present her Bharatnatyam dance; Bharti Shivaji’s  Mohiniattam dance and Uma Dogra’s kathak dance will follow.

On Wednesday, a camp of tribal folk artistes will be inaugurated by Minister for Tribal Welfare Kunwar Vijay Shah, music and dance show of folk artistes from Madhya Pradesh will follow in the evening. Pt Raghunath Seth and his troupe will present a Bansuri recital the same evening.

Pannalal Sharma and his troupe of folk artistes from Uttar Pradesh will present a dance and music show on February 15. Surabhi Singh and her troupe will perform Kathak and Akanksha Shrivastava and her troupe will also present Kathak the same evening. Besides, Malini Shrivastava will present her semi-classical vocal.

Punjab’s folk artistes will present music and dance show on Friday. It will be followed by sufi singing by Yunis Gil. On Saturday, Sunday and  Monday, major attraction at Bharat Bhavan silver jubilee function will be music and dance show of folk artistes from Orissa, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh respectively. On the final day of the celebrations, a musical play based on Kabir will be presented by Shekhar Sen.
