Stage has been set for the October 27 rally of Rajendra Rana, the MLA who recently joined the Congress party as its associate member.
Chief minister Virbhadra Singh would be the chief guest in the rally of Sarv Kalyankari Sangathan, an outfit of Rajendra Rana.
Rana held discussions with his aides in Sujanpur on Saturday claiming that it would be a grand rally and people from all parts of Hamirpur and adjoining areas of Kangra and Mandi districts would also participate.
It is believed that since Rana is now with the Congress, it would be a show of strength between him and the BJP, his former party.
Local BJP activists have been trying their best asking their workers not to attend the proposed rally saying that Rana has betrayed them by joining the Congress party. However, Rana clarifies that he took the decision on the basis of the feedback he received from his cadre which was instrumental in sending him to the state Vidhan Sabha.
He told HT over phone that he left the BJP much ahead of the elections and it was wrong to say that he stabbed at the party from behind. He said those opposing him were in the habit of opposing him earlier also and had tasted defeat in the last assembly elections. Experts believe that if Rana manages to draw huge crowd, it would help him in consolidating his position and would give a big jolt to the BJP.
