THE OPERATION of Starbuses will resume from Tuesday morning after police officials assured bus operators of Bhopal City Link Limited (BCLL) of their full cooperation in running these buses. Senior district administration and police officials on Monday held a meeting with star bus operators who had suspended their operations for the past three days.
At a meeting with in charge collector Kavindra Kiyawat, IG Sanjeev Singh, ADM M B Ojha, SP A K Singh and SDM Vaid Prakash, the operators spoke to them about their grievances against the traffic police. The police officials assured operators that full cooperation would be extended for smooth running of these buses.
It was also decided that there would be regular meetings with the Starbus operators and traffic police officials to sort out problems.
They were also given assurance that in the future the police would talk to operators before taking action. Starbus operators had suspended the bus operation following police action against their employees, who allegedly misbehaved with a traffic police official. MP Nagar police had booked seven employees of Starbuses two days ago. Since then, Starbus operators withdrew their buses from the roads.
Starbuses were introduced on October 2, 2006 in Bhopal on the lines of similar services in Indore. However, the operation of these buses remained in dispute due to opposition from the mini bus operators, who believe that this would result in loss of their business.
