State players excel in national yoga contest

ASHWINI TARE OF Indore and Nitin Sangate of Dewas excelled in the all-India yoga championship held at Madurai (TN) recently.

International player Ashwini Tare bagged three medals in various events. She won gold in artistic yoga, silver in rhythmic pair event and bronze in athletic yoga.

Participating in the nationals for    the first time, Nitin Sangate of Dewas won gold in athletic yoga. Ashwamegh Silawat won the silver in rhythmic yoga category. Ankisha Kabra won the bronze in artistic yoga event to bring laurels to Madhya Pradesh.

On the basis of their performance, Ashwini Tare, Nitin Sangate, Ashwamegh Silawat and Ankisha Kabra have been selected in the Indian yoga team to take part in the international yoga competition to be held in New Delhi from December 12.

MP Yoga Amateur Association has congratulated the yoga team for its brilliant performance.

MP national canvas ball cricket champs
HOSTS MADHYA Pradesh won the all-India canvas ball cricket tournament organised by the MP Canvas Ball Cricket Association at the Nehru stadium.

In the men’s final, hosts MP defeated Madhya Bharat. Batting first, Madhya Bharat scored 79/7. Javed scored 22 runs. Srikant took three wickets while Ajay and Vijay took two wickets each.

In reply, hosts MP surpassed the required runs losing six wickets to win the tournament. Ajay batted well to score an unbeaten 20 runs. Shrikant Khare won the ‘man of the match’ award while Javed Khan won the ‘man of the series’ award. Former Central minister Jasbir Sigh Mita was the chief guest and distributed the prizes to winners.

Double crown for SGSITS
SGSITS WON the double crown in the inter-collegiate handball tournament. SGSITS won the men and women’s handball titles.
In the men’s final, SGSITS beat IPS Academy by 14-12 while in the women’s final, host SGSITS beat IPS Academy by 6-5 goals.
College director R C Saraswat was the chief guest and distributed the prizes to the winners.

Carrom championship
THE DISTRICT carrom (team) championship organised by the Indore District Carrom Association will begin Wednesday at the Nehru Stadium.

The team championship is being played on league basis. The matches will be played in two batches—the first from 6 to 8 pm and the second from 8 to 10 pm.

Sports meet
THE INTER-COLLEGIATE athletics meet organised by the DAVV will begin Wednesday. The three-day sports meet will begin at 10 am and each day 18 athletic events will take place. The meet will conclude on December 1.
