Staying positive will bail out Delhi
Just as winning is a wonderful habit to inculcate, losing is debilitating. That's something I am sure the Delhi Daredevils will agree with. When you find yourself in the position in which Delhi are, it's easy to be gnawed at by massive doubts. And by that, I mean self-doubt as well as collective doubt, with players perhaps sub-consciously questioning themselves as well as each other.
In a team sport, while it is essential to have faith and belief in your skills, it is equally important to believe in the people around you. It is possible, after a string of disappointing losses that the belief might begin to wear slightly thin. This happens to the best of teams and greatest of players.
Not for a moment do I doubt the ability or the skill-set of the Delhi team. Instead, at this point, it is worth focusing on their mindset, because when you have had a run as crushing as Delhi, the mind can start playing tricks and it is easy to be engulfed by a sinking feeling.
Hard blows
Particularly feeling the pinch will be Mahela Jayawardene, the captain. He is a successful international captain and a wonderful batsman.
All is not lost for Delhi yet, but they must find the wherewithal to turn up and compete. There is no magic potion; positive thinking and determination alone will do the trick.
