After the prestigious UPSC exam, girls have now topped the 2011 ICSE and ISC exams the results for which were declared on Tuesday.
The exams were conducted by the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE).
Spriya Biswas from Jamshedpur topped the ICSE exams with 98.8%.
She was pretty confident of ranking first in her school, but little did she expect that she would top the country.
"I had never dreamt of something like this," said the girl from Rajendra Vidyalaya. "I would better help develop my own country than contributing towards development of another country," said Spriya, who wants to crack IIT and study computer science.
Abhishek Dey, a student of St. Xavier's School Panihati in West Bengal was declared the joint topper with Spriya.
Meanwhile, Eti Agarwal of La Martiniere Girls' College, Lucknow, has secured 98.75% in ISC with 100% each in mathematics and commerce. This is possibly the highest percentage attained by any student in the country. But, as the CISCE does not declare a merit list, her ranking cannot be confirmed.
"I never dreamt of something like this," she said. "I have opted for commerce, preferably at Lady Shri Ram in Delhi," she said and added that she would like to follow in the footprints of her father, who is a chartered accountant.
"I never followed any strict schedule for preparations," she said.
"I took time out and struck a balance between extra curricular activities and studies."
