THE TRANSPORT Department, the UPSRTC, the traffic police and the tempo-taxi unions all will come together to ease traffic congestion in the city, especially in the Charbagh area. A meeting called by Superintendent of Police (Traffic) RK Srivastava took various decisions in this direction. Among those attending the meeting were the RTO (Enforcement), the ARTO, the RM, and representatives of the various tempo-taxi unions. It was also decided at the meeting that no public transport vehicle would be allowed to stop on the middle of the road. They will be required to stop on their specified stand or in the fourth lane of the road while taking and dropping passengers. The Roadways buses starting from Charbagh bus stand towards Vidhan Sabha will not be allowed to stop before Ravindralaya. Likewise, the CNG-operated autos which had permits for other routes and were plying in the Charbagh area will be not be allowed to go to Charbagh unless they are going to take fuel from the CNG depot at Amausi. According to RTO (Enforcement) Gangaphal the Tata Sumo vehicles operating illegally from Charbagh to Allahabad and Faizabad would be seized if they did not stop plying within three days. He said that the tempo-taxi unions had agreed to provide volunteers to help transport/traffic department decongest Charbagh.
