Paintings of noted artist Raja Ravi Varma, which were stolen from a temple last year have reportedly been put on sale for Rs 3 crore on the internet.

According to police, international smugglers had eyed on Varma's paintings of Maa Saraswati, Hans Damayanti and Arjun Subhadra among others at the Ram temple for a long time.

They had even tried to lure priests and the management of the temple by offering Rs 11 lakh to them, but their plan that did not work, police said.
