Samajwadi Party flag

With the misuse of the Samajwadi Party flag, stickers and red beacon assuming a serious dimension in the state, the party’s national president Mulayam Singh Yadav on Saturday issued a stern warning to party leaders to take immediate corrective measures or face disciplinary action.

In a communication to all district units, Yadav has directed the local leaders to stop misuse of party symbol. The party had received large-scale complaints about unauthorised people using SP flags, stickers, hooters and even red beacons on their vehicles. Even on visiting cards, local leaders had got the picture of Mulayam Singh Yadav printed along with their own.

Directing the local leaders to strictly follow the guidelines issued in this connection on March 14, 2012, the president also asked them to send a monthly compliance report. Chief minister and state SP president Akhilesh Yadav has constituted a 15-member committee to monitor the situation. The committee members are: Naresh Uttam, MLC, Arvind Kumar Singh, MP, Sangram Singh, Pawan Pandey, Raj Kumar Raju, Aruna Verma (all MLAs), Ram Vrakhsha Singh Yadav, Ramesh Prajapati, Umashankar Chaudhury, Sunil Singh Yadav, Amitabh Bajpai, Nafis Ahmad, Naimul Hasan and Nirbhay Singh Patel.

The party has even banned use of the popular sticker ‘Mission 2014’, along with the pictures of Mulayam Singh and Akhilesh Yadav, on vehicles. It has in fact become a common sight on SUVs moving around in the state.
