More complaints about nuances created by monkeys in residential areas have started coming up soon after HT reported about the menace in South City.
The residents of Palam Vihar have complained that their normal routine has been disrupted due to presence of monkeys in the area. Their complaint at the Citizen Facilitation Centre of Municipal Corporation Gurgaon (MCG) in November last year, is yet to be attended by the authority.
"Though our problems related to monkey nuisance in C Block Palam Vihar is quite old but sorry to mention there is no respite from same. These days two monkeys have created such a nuisance and damages that it life is becoming difficult," said SP Jain, a resident of Palam Vihar, who had registered his complaint with MCG last year.
“A few days ago these monkeys uprooted the antenna mast and aerial as well swung on BIG TV Dish for TDH service which cost R200 besides inconvenience,” Jain said.
Following HT report, the residents of South City have taken up the issue with the MCG afresh and have decided to stage demonstration at its office if it fails to address the problem.
Samir, a resident of South City, said that people have started collecting Rs 10 per household and arranging for Langoors to scare away the monkeys.
"It is the responsibility of the government to protect the lives and property of the people from the situations such as monkey menace but it has failed to do so," he said.
A monkey has been giving the residents of South City 1 sleepless nights for the past few days. The monkey has bitten around half a dozen people in the area and many are afraid to move out of their homes.
Parents are keeping their children away from open areas as a preventive measure, just in case monkey attack them.
Residents are also advised to avoid keeping household items are places that are known to attract monkeys. A good preventive method, according to animal specialists, is to avoid throwing food items near houses or in the open. Always discard kitchen waste properly to avoid attracting animals.
